Modern Silhouette Mini Sessions Are Here | Main Line Philadelphia Children’s Photography

Modern Silhouette Mini Sessions are inspired by the traditional black & white cut-paper silhouette, but with a new spin.

I’ve been thinking about this idea for a while and I’m so happy to finally be bringing it to life. The portraits feature your kiddo’s perfect profile set against one of several patterned backgrounds. Easy-peasy, no forced smiles – A quick mini-mini session gets you 2 digital images, perfect to print poster-sized on the wall, as part of a gallery wall, or tiny in a vintage locket (as I have my daughter in an antique silver locket above).

Sessions will take place on April 21st, starting at 11 AM. Contact me here to book your spot! Spaces are limited and might book up quickly.

  • 10 Minute Session
  • 2 High-Res Digital Images with print release, delivered in an online gallery
  • $50 session fee – due at time of booking
  • Your choice of several patterned backgrounds
  • Additional print products available to order

If you’re planning on booking a full lifestyle or documentary session this spring, but would love a modern silhouette portrait, let me know. We can find a way to include a silhouette in your session. Shoot me an email at erin@fiveanddimestudio.com or contact me here.

Fall Mini Sessions Are Here! | Main Line Family Photographer

While we have some time before the autumnal equinox, I always mark the start of fall by the first day of school. With only a few short weeks before school starts, it’s time to start thinking about fall photo sessions. If you’ve had a photo session with me in past, you know that they are playful and rambling with minimal posing and lots of adventure. I like the time to explore and capture your family having fun together.

That said, I know that sometimes a full session is more than you can fit into a busy schedule or budget. My fall mini sessions will be outdoor on-location (details below) and a small taste of my full sessions. They are perfect for a holiday card or just to capture your family at this moment in time.

If you are interested in booking a session, please email me at erin@fiveanddimestudio.com or contact me here. Let me know that you’re interested in booking a mini session and give me your first and second preference from the options below.

October 15th (Sunday) – A client booked a “make your own” mini session with friends. I can squeeze in one more family. Email if you want it to be you! Location is still being worked out, but will be near the Ardmore/Havertown area.

Mini sessions are approximately 20 minutes long and include 10 high-res digital images with print-release. Additional images and print products will also be available for purchase. Of course, if you’d like to book a full session at the time and location of your choice, I’d love to get you on the calendar. You can email me at erin@fiveanddimestudio.com or contact me here.

Mini sessions can be used for families (up to 5 family members), children, couples, or portraits. They cannot be used for newborn sessions.

Spring Family Portrait Session | Main Line & Philadelphia Family Photographer

You know you need to catch up on your blogging when you start to write up your fall sessions and realized that you never posted about one of your favorite sessions EVER from this spring.

The Leitao Family won my Mother’s Day giveaway but I think that really I won. I told Sandy that I go at your children’s speed and it’s okay if they take a little time to warm up to me. Not so much here. When I showed up on their doorstep, their youngest grabbed my hand and dragged me up to her room to assign me a stuffed animal for play. That was pretty much how the rest of the session went, once we got down to the Scott Arboretum (Swarthmore campus). The girls were playful adventurers, who even snagged a big group sister hug without any prompting from me. The pic above is an improvised hula dance, learned on their trip to Hawaii. These three totally stole my heart and I hope for another playdate photo session soon!

Powell Family | Summer Travel Session | Brookline, MA

I’ve known Devon since I was a freshman and she was a world-weary sophomore in college, living on the same floor of a concrete block dorm. We could each tell some stories, but I’ll save that for our reunions. Let’s just say that she looks as if she hasn’t aged since….however many years ago that was.

Even though we only see them about once a year, Everett still thinks of her sons as his good friends and is excited to see them whenever we visit my parents. I felt so honored when Devon asked me to take their family photos during our trip this pas July. After a delicious dinner at her house, we hopped over to the nearby Fisher Hill Reservoir Park. If you live in the Boston area, you should definitely check it out. They really did a great job with the landscaping of the space. There’s the historic pump house overlooking the modern fields and playgrounds, even a huge field of black-eyed susans. I don’t get to see this crew as often as I like, but just looking through these photos again makes me happy.

Philadelphia Clickin’ Walk 2017

On Sunday, I got together with a group of local photographers for a stroll through Philadelphia. None of the streets were new. None of the sites were new. But….taking the time to walk slowly, with the intent of taking photos, forced me to see things differently.

I got to meet several ladies whose work I had only followed on Instagram or with whom I had only spoken online. I also spoke to strangers on the street! People do this all the time, but I’m a wary street photographer. I think many creatives identify as INFJ (read: introvert) like me and it’s definitely outside my comfort zone. Emboldened by all the friendly faces in my group and our community-over-competition vibe, I decided I would ask passers-by if they would let me take their pictures. Luckily, several of them did!

I LOVE babies, kids, and playing with families in parks….but it was great to do something a little different. I couldn’t resist sharing a few shots on here. Shoot me a message and tell me which one is your favorite!
